Shashi Tharoor writes his sincere services were never appreciated by Congress party in his letter to Sonia!
The recent letter written by Shashi Tharoor to Congress party president Sonia Gandhi has caused lot of tensions between Mr.Tharoor and the party. He has complained to Sonia that his sincere services to the party have “neither been seen nor appreciated”.
“I am dismayed, indeed distressed, by our exchange at the morning meeting. If you have read the press leaks in today’s papers, it is obvious that they were maliciously aimed at me, seeking to portray me as an isolated figure in the party,” he said in the letter written the same day.
The reason behind Sonia Gandhi’s anger is due to an alleged leak by Tharoor of his views against the party’s stalling tactics in Parliament which were discussed as part of a strategy meet of Congress party on July 21
Earlier, Tharoor found himself in the centre of issues over his praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘Clean India’ campaign and campaign on Yoga and also said that the even though he follows UPA policies, Prime Minister leaves a positive impact on the countries he visit.
Tharoor said there might be some agenda behind all this alleged leak; some of the members in the party perhaps want to embarrass and discourage him from expressing his views in the future meetings of Congress party
“Yet, your comments this morning were based on the assumption that I was responsible for the leaks. Why I on earth would I have spoken to the media to undermine myself and my standing within the party? I hope there is no misunderstanding of either my conduct or my intentions. I served the party’s interests with sincerity and to the best of my ability, while often feeling that this has neither been seen nor appreciated. The events of the last 24 hours sadly suggest that this remained the case, “Tharoor said concluding it.
When asked about the letter, Tharoor said today,”I will neither confirm nor deny because even responding to such a question legitimises your line of inquiry.”
Responding to a query that whether he was unhappy with the party, he said,”I would like to reiterate that I am fully satisfied with my role and work within the Congress party”.
