How to prepare Chaat masala at home. Chaat masala is a masala, or spice mix, used in Indian and Pakistani Cuisine. Chaat masala has both a sweet and a sour taste. It is used to flavour fast foods of India like bhelpuri, aloo chaat and Dahi puri. It is a spice that can be added to foods and drinks.
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seed (Jeera)
- 1/2 tblsp Dried Mint Leaves (Pudina Leaves)
- 1/4th tsp Carom seeds
- 1/4th tsp Asafetida (Hing) Powder
- 1 tbsp Rock Salt
- 1 tblsp dried Mango Powder
- 4 to 6 Cloves
- 1 tsp Ginger Powder
- 1 tsp Cayenne ( red dry chilly )
- 1 tsp Black Pepper corns
- 2 tsp Salt
Take a wide frying pan. Pre-heat the pan add the cumin seeds, black pepper corns, cloves, dried
mint leaves, ajwain and hing powder. Shake the pan from time to time. When the spices began to
smell fragrant remove from heat. Now add rock salt and grind. Then finally mix in all other
ingredients. Off the flame and allow it to cool. Store this in a bottle closed tightly.
