Health Tip: Sugar is excess weight of the body. In generally people will think when they plan to reduce the weight suddenly they focus on oil foods only. But sugar is the one of the ingredient which won’t give you many calories. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the average American consumes 156 pounds of added sugar per year.
Americans 65% are overweight, and 27% clinically obese, in a nation addicted to sesame seed buns for that hamburger, with a side of French fries and a Coke, is no coincidence. It is not the fat in the foods we eat but, far more, the excess carbohydrates from our starch- and sugar-loaded diet that is maki
ng people fat and unhealthy, and leading to epidemic levels of a host of diseases such as diabetes.
That’s five grocery store shelves loaded with 30 or so one pound bags of sugar each. If you find that hard to believe, that’s probably because sugar is so ubiquitous in our diets that most of us have no idea how much we’re consuming. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) puts the amount at 27.5 teaspoons of sugar a day per capita, which translates to 440 calories – nearly one quarter of a typical 2000 calorie a day diet.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that without sugars can be limited to 10% of calories daily. The WHO is in the process of updating that recommendation, and it commissioned the review of this research to help that process.
Free sugars are defined as sugars added to foods by the manufacturer, cook, or consumer, or those naturally present in fruit juice, syrups, and honey.
